This question has really challenged me. When I look at my profile, I feel I’ve not done my best as a Mass Communication student. Frankly speaking, I’ve always loved writing right from childhood. I always loved the English lessons that involved writing story compositions and always excelled.
My father also did a lot to inspire me into writing. He would take me for trips to western Uganda and then impress it upon me to write a story of the whole journey and the events therein. This was always a challenge I didn’t enjoy as a child, but again learnt a lot from it.
While at the university I opted for Mass communication and graduated with honors in Public relations. Here I learnt the value of writing and the impact of message on its readers. I vowed to take up writing seriously and even had hope of joining a media house where I would further enhance my writing.
To the contrary, I got a job in a child rights NGO as a communication specialist and limited my writing to only child rights. Here I excelled in writing journals and a few articles in the national newspapers. I will never forget my first published article and the overwhelming calls I received from relatives and friends congratulating and encouraging me to keep it up. Its amazing much value and respect people allot to you when they read a good piece you have written. This motivated me to write more and even co-authored a monthly e-book titled ‘Child Link’ that mainly covered stories on children.
I happened to meet one Jackie Oulanyah at this NGO; she was friend who loved writing and inspired me to start a blog. This I did 10 years back and would share my thoughts and opinions on this forum; this I did faithfully for 3 years until I changed jobs and lost all the zeal.
Fortunately, all this changed when I joined Harvest Institute this year for their annual leadership course that puts too much emphasis on writing. They made it mandatory to start a blog and write at least two articles every month. This seemed difficult at the start but I can testify that the practice has reignited the fire of writing in me. The passion is real; as go about the day, I take note of crucial things that happen to me and am glad to share with my who ever cares.
In the past I cared so much about my audience and how they will feel about a certain issue and if they will enjoy my story. I always thought my stories were boring, today I have had a change of mindset. I believe am the best author of my story, no body is to write it for me.
The stories I write are inspired by my daily life; that is my family and all those areas am passionate about. I love running and exercising; I therefore find my articles concentrating on this area of my life. Am glad my audience is building up on a daily and many of them are amazed by my experience. This gives me a lot of satisfaction and drives me into writing more and more
My friend, you too have something to tell the world about today; it may seem irrelevant to you, but could be an inspiration to someone out there that’s going through a tough situation. Start now, let’s write and share.

Yes, let’s write. Thanks Christine.
