I cant believe its 38 days already of being locked down at home, and just like the word sounds its not been easy and am glad to have this opportunity to share what my typical day is during these COVID days at home;
At the start of all this I thought I would revenge on all the sleep I’ve missed all those days I woke up early to beat the Entebbe traffic jam. To my surprise, this has not been the case as I end up waking up early every morning. Am up by 6:30am the exact time Mzeeyi Kaguta announced the Curfew would be ending.
Am an ardent fun of running and had planned to run every morning during the lockdown so as to catch up on missed distance all those days I worked long hours and didn’t get the opportunity to run. I would be out of the house running for an hour every morning; this was working until the Ntinda, Najeera and Kiwatule health fanatics took things a little bit far and begun running and exercising in large groups without minding social distancing rules. This pushed Mzeeyi Kaguta to ban running on streets and encourage indoor exercise. This hurt me, as my zeal for running was affected.
I have three children two of whom are primary scholars that came back home with homework, this implied that some supervision and teaching had to be done here and who fits this role better than mummy? You will all agree its never easy teaching children, they are disturbing little angels that require a lot of patience. I have taught them everyday of the lockdown, sometimes they challenge me other times I take them on. I started out tough with lots of seriousness but have loosened up each passing day, Ive learnt to be patient with them and teaching is now more fun, more experiential and they testify that mum is a great teacher……

As we go over work with the kids, I share the same space for my office work. Am one of those employees that’s working from home and this doesn’t mean that work demands have reduced…nope. Am an imports expert and the organization I work for has continued to import foodstuffs and other essentials for sale to our clients. Am normally engaged in several phone calls, am constantly on my mails coordinating with colleagues, attending team meetings and others. All this has been too much and overwhelming for me as internet has posed a major setback and caused me so many delays, lots of interruption and I definitely end up working for longer hours compared to when I used to go to office.
On the overall, I thank God for an opportunity to spend more time with my family, usually its been difficult getting leave from my workplace but with COVID lockdown, am home all the time, the children are happier and we get to spend a lot of time together. My husband is still working but is also happier as he comes home earlier to a happy family.
