What I do for Self care

It goes without question that everybody out there is going through a difficult time. We all are operating outside our normal, so what does one do to ensure they maintain their sanity? I don’t know what others are doing but I will tell you what am doing…………..

First am keeping close to my creator, I pray often, read the bible, listen in to preaching’s and pray along with others not to lose track. Where I run out of energy to read the bible I listen to the audio version and keep in the word. This nourishes my soul and keeps me feeling happy as I know God’s got ma back.

Secondly, am spending more and more time with family, I get time during the day to play with them, sing kids songs, dance and listen to their stories, this makes me feel ten years younger, you can’t believe I passed by office a few days ago and my boss thought so as well. It’s refreshing……

I eat healthy foods during this period; with several restaurants closed, I’ve cut off the junk food eat healthier food prepared at home. Given the need to maximally utilize the limited resources, I find myself really enjoying posho, greens tomatoes, beans, porridge, greens…..

I drink lots of water in the morning; this lubricates the joints and flushes out all waste from the body. I’ve also found it useful for a beautiful and radiant skin.

Am an ardent runner, exercise is part of me, I ensure to run every morning or evening during the lockdown. This keeps me healthy, fit and keeps my weight in check. Try it out as well, you won’t regret.

I love and feel good about myself; I don’t need other people’s compliments to feel good, I know am beautiful and wonderfully made in the image of God, am confident in what I do and never strive to impress others. I’ve learnt to accept the things I cant manage and always seek assistance from others in those areas where am weak.

I feel that God has blessed me with plenty and so take off time to some of it with the needy with in my community. I assist with food supplies and any support I possibly can. It’s such a great feeling having to share a little something with someone who really needs it, their joy becomes your joy as well. You feel God at work in your life.

I keep in touch with friends, encourage and pray with those that feel discouraged and celebrate with those that are celebrating.

I keep away from negative social media that tends to exaggerate everything. I always want to feel the positive side of life at all time and so endeavor to read positive and encouraging messages.

With this lockdown, am staying home most of the time and I have made it a point to be smart and comfortable all the time. I put on my best, hold my hair smartly in the morning, put on jewelry and then start my day. I see no point in keeping my best clothes for outings yet these are no more because of social distancing. My husband is impressed with this.

Last but not least, I love to have a good laugh; happiness is me, I love happiness and my family knows it. We find simple ways to keep happy, as long as we are all healthy then there is a reason to smile. I encourage you to smile today, it doesn’t matter what you are going through, let God take care of your worries, just smile and all will be well, remember, the Joy of the Lord is our strength everyday….
